Yes, I strongly believe that we should reinstate the ban on assault weapons, close gun show loopholes, require mandatory background checks, and that if you’re too dangerous to fly on an airplane that you’re too dangerous to buy a gun.
Some 30 million Americans remain uninsured. Would you support or oppose the Affordable Healthcare Act as currently written? Explain why you would support its continuation or what kind of plan, if any, should replace it. (limit 150 words)
I support the Affordable Care Act. I feel that the 20 million Americans who have health insurance now as a result of the ACA is a huge achievement. I also feel that we should allow all citizens to buy into Medicare. It would give people a less expensive option to purchase health insurance. It would make Medicare more solvent and substantially reduce the deficit.
Some presidential candidates have said they would favor getting rid of the U.S. Department of Education. Explain what kind of role you believe the federal government should play in education and what federal education policies you would support or oppose. (limit 150 words)
I do not think that we should get rid of the U.S. Department of Education. I believe that the that the U.S.D.E. plays an essential role in ensuring that apply a standard of high quality of education nation wide.
The U.S. debt is approaching $20 trillion, and interest payments on the debt were $223 billion in 2015. What measures would you support to reduce the annual budget deficit that contributes to the national debt? (limit 150 words)
This problem needs to be addressed from both the revenue and expense side of the equation. On the tax expense side of the equation we need to eliminate the Bush Era tax cuts. On the revenue side we need to pursue a prosperity agenda where Americans make more money which ultimately generates more revenue for the federal government.
