What are the three top challenges facing the Orlando City Council? Briefly describe how you would address these challenges. (limit 150 words)
Civic Engagement- Due to scheduling and lack of resources to residents particular in District 5 I will reach out to residents faster and directly using technology and other means to reach out to the residents of District 5
Voter/ Civic Education- Voter apathy and awareness of the particular issues happening hurts the possibilities of opportunity and I will continue reaching out to the community to inform them of the choices they have.
Accountability- Due to the fact that many people are disengaged from the process allows the council to dominate more of the narrative instead of the other way around. By engaging the people directly and straightforward they will be empowered to hold government accountable.
What is your experience working with large budgets, revenue shortfalls, and oversight? (limit 150 words)
I have supervised employees and worked for the largest payroll company in Orlando and large sums of money are not overwhelming. As Student Government Association Senator at Florida A&M University we were responsible for passage of a $3 Million Dollar Budget. I’ve interned with Councilmen on budgets and are very familiar with the budget process.
What are three things “going right” for Orlando? How will you continue forward progress? (limit 150 words)
  1) Clean Energy- Orlando commissioners want all the electricity used in the city to come from renewable sources of energy like solar and wind power, making sure as many workers come from this community will be a challenge moving forward.
2) Body Cameras- Body-worn and in-car cameras enhance accountability and transparency and many residents of color are concerned about excessive force.
3) Response to tragedy- During the Pulse Night Club Incident I witnessed people fro diverse backgrounds come together in Orlando’s darkest hour.
How do you propose to increase civic engagement? (limit 150 words)
  1) Hosting Events within the community
2) By using Technology to reach out to residents faster
3) By Developing of a Comprehensive Needs Assessment for the District 5 Neighborhoods to determine what exactly Orlando Government can do better to service the residents
