Civic Organizations (limit 75 words)
I am a member of FamiLAB, Orlando’s Makerspace. A center for makers where you can learn how to 3D print, laser cut, cnc mill, and learn and interact with amazing engineers from Orlando.
Please describe your positions on the legislative responsibility for protecting the public interest in the Education, Health Care and Criminal Justice systems. Do you have any specific proposals to improve these systems? (limit 150 words)
It is our civic and societal duty that government takes on these issues. Private prisons should not exist. Medicare for all is a cost efficient and effective solution to our healthcare issues. While working to stop the rising cost of tuition, I also want to stop the extra fees students face, such as one-time use codes in their textbooks.
Over 500,000 working poor Florida citizens remain without health insurance. Would you support tapping federal dollars to cover these people? If not, what kind of plan do you support? (limit 150 words)
Yes. I support both a national single payer health care system and a state run version.
An estimated 300,000 people died from gun violence between 2004 and 2014. Here at home in Orlando, the June 12 nightclub shooting saw 49 people killed, and 50 more wounded. Do you support or oppose a state ban on assault weapons and/or more thorough background checks? (limit 150 words)
I support more thorough background checks as well as longer waiting periods. I also support creating more mental health care clinics and providing them with funding.
